Mentor!
A mentor is someone with whom you can develop a long-term relationship that is centered around building the mentee’s growth and development. A mentor does not work on a day-to-day basis to help a mentee make decisions, but he is there to serve as someone who can offer support, wisdom, and teaching overtimes.
Mentorship is the influence, guidance, or direction given by a mentor. The personal and professional growth of a mentee is influenced by the mentor. When you’re feeling down, your mentor supports you, listens to you and reminds you of the big successes you’ve already had in the past.
I’ll never forget that moment when my mentor looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Tu bohot Sochta hai”, “Believe in yourself as I know you will able to do”, “You will just have to follow the right process”. He said it in a way that hit me to the core. And at that moment, I realized that he believed in me more than I did!
Your mentor knows what’s possible for you because he can see your true potential. He believes in you because he knows that you’re capable of reaching your goals not only in your career but also in life. Their belief will fuel your inner self-belief.
Your life mentors show you — who you are, so that you can see your weaknesses and work on them. He’ll show you where you need to improve, especially when you’re not fully aware of it yet. He won’t sugar-coat it for you, but he also won’t hurt you in the process either. He knows where I want to go and how to help direct me there. I trusted him and achieving my goals.
Getting out outside of your head, and seeing your situation through your mentor’s eyes will help you to get clear on where you are now, how you got here, and where you want to go. When you feel lost, you only need to get clear on where you are now and where you want to go.
The mentor has faced that struggle that you’re struggling with right now, so he can help you get past it and move forward. After all, he had done this before and he has “got your back”. Let his past successes motivate you to move forward. When your mentor shows you the path that you need to go down, it makes continuing your journey so much easier.
Learn from your mentor about when he was in your shoes and what he did to move forward. Allow your mentor to coach you by asking you the biggest questions you need to sit with. Sometimes when he asks you that question that only you can figure out for yourself. What does your intuition say? Your life mentor will help you to hear it.
Your mentor shows you that it was possible for him and that he achieved it. And that means that you can achieve the same thing too. Your mentor is someone that you can model. He is a living, breathing blueprint for you to imitate for your own goals.
Your mentor has the technical know-how and experience that you can draw upon. Especially if you’re working within a very niche field, some of your co-workers, your bosses, and others in your industry can help you to learn the technical knowledge that you need to reach your goals.
It’s important to find a mentor who is willing and able to take you on. A good mentor is someone who will support and encourage you to reach for higher goals, to take the next step and to push yourself in to succeed in business. The perfect mentor is one who is experienced in an area where you need a little bit of extra help because you may lack the knowledge or experience.
A good mentor will help you stay accountable to your goals, He will help you pay attention and stay on track. When you get frustrated and want to give up he will push you harder and keep you going. A mentor can be invaluable to ask you the hard questions and challenge you to come up with the answers.
Mentors are valuable for so many reasons, essential for providing knowledge, motivation, advice and counsel, encouragement when you need it most, help with personal development and so much more. I am lucky enough to find a personal mentor who can be all of these things to me!
